This week, we were given the brief we were waiting on for a while, the podcast. In groups of four we were given our time period and finally got started on a part of the module I was particularly excited for. We were given the 2000-2010 period, which I was delighted about because frankly, I have no knowledge or interest in design from the say the 30's or 40's. As a big fan of podcasts, i was extremely excited to get in and find out how they are made and all the work that really goes into it. Unfortunately we never got the opportunity to record the podcast properly due to the pandemic, but apart from the possibly dodgy quality, it makes no real difference.

We quickly got to ideation about what we could do and picked something we all felt was a crucial part of design from that period. The release of the first iPhone. We came up with he rather complicated idea of having a flashback podcast to 2007 and compare it to current iPhone design and the changes in the design and Tech World that has happened because of the iPhone's release. We quickly decided our jobs and I was happy to be main host and see how it feels to make a podcast. We did a small bit of research into some features of the iPhone but it is something that our generation is very clued in to so we didn't need much.

I think for me, it actually takes having a real look at the influence of Apple and "opening your eyes" to see just how important a product something such as the iPhone changed to smartphone market. Their sleek and simplistic design was something that immediately became noticed as the future of smartphones. Physical keyboards were almost immediately forgotten about and every leading phone since is reminiscent of the design of that original iPhone, with little buttons and a full screen. It just goes to show how a little bit of research and a small bit of thought can really show you how influential certain designs are.
